Appendix A

Dear Parents,

Thank you for participating in our psychology research project.  We are studying qualifications for employment and we felt that adults could best judge candidates for a teaching position.  Attached to this letter is a résumé for a teaching position and a brief questionnaire.  We appreciate the time you spend filling this out.  It should only take a few minutes.  In order for our study to work, it is imperative that you not discuss this study with any family members who may also be completing the questionnaire.  Thank you again.

     Sincerely,

Deborah Hobden, Rachel Zimmerman, and Brendan Ring
