MAKE YOUR OWN 3D BRAIN

For a 2D Brain, see "Cardboard Brain"

If you want to make a three dimensional model of your brain (or anyone’s brain), feel free to do so. You can use clay, bubble gum, or salt dough. Any medium will do. Just remember that your brain must be 3-dimensional. You only need to make the  LEFT HALF of your brain. As you know, the two hemispheres are the same except for the fact that verbal areas are concentrated on the left side of your brain. If, however, you want to make a "whole" brain, that is OK. If you prefer to make a 2-dimensional "cardboard brain", please go to the link above.

Use paint or markers of different colors to highlight the four lobes of your brain. Blue = frontal lobes; green = parietal lobes; red = temporal lobes; yellow = occipital lobes.

You must also identify the motor cortex, sensory cortex, visual cortex, auditory cortex, Broca’s area, Wernicke’s area, angular gyrus, brainstem, cerebellum, and the three major fissures (i.e., longitudinal, central, and lateral). The easiest way to do this is to insert toothpicks with flags into the various areas of the brain.

Regardless of how you identify each area of your brain, be sure to indicate what  functions are carried out by that part of the brain. (Note that the fissures do not have functions per se).

You should try to make your brain (or half-brain) about the same size as a real brain. If you need some guidance, you are welcome to look at my brain anytime.

I suggest that you work in groups. However, you may work individually, or in pairs if you choose.

Finally, be sure to put your NAMES somewhere on your brain so I know who gets points.
