Social Psychology II

1.    Define aggressive behavior.  Briefly describe the impact of genetics, biochemistry, and learning on aggressive behavior.  Can any of these effects be counteracted?

2.    Describe the bystander effect.  Explain altruism in terms of the social exchange theory, the reciprocity norm, and evolutionary psychology.

3.    Describe the influences of proximity, physical attractiveness, and similarity on interpersonal attraction.  Select a "couple" you are familiar with (no names please) and analyze their relationship using the three criteria above.

4.    Explain the impact of physical arousal on passionate love (i.e., the 2-factor theory).  Discuss how you believe a person can determine whether they are experiencing passionate love or (the more stable) companionate love.
